We are excited to welcome Leon Richardson as our new Worship Director beginning Sunday, September 6! Join us for worship at our new time, 9:30am, as Leon helps lead us into this next season at Sparta First.

We are grateful for the gifts Leon brings and look forward to growing together in worship as we continue to follow Jesus and share his love. Come worship with us and help give Leon a warm Sparta First welcome!

Kids & Youth Fun Day

Kids & Youth Launch - September 6

Something BIG is happening this fall at Sparta First! Kids and youth are invited to join us Sunday, September 6 at 10:30am as we kick off a brand-new year together with a foam party, food, games, fun, and plenty of surprises!

We have spaces designed especially for PreK/K, Elementary (1st-5th grade), and Youth (6th-12th grade) where kids can make friends, have fun, ask questions, and grow in their faith.

Come to worship at 9:30am, then stay for the party at 10:30am. And don't come alone - this is the perfect Sunday to bring a friend and come see what's happening!

Join the Theo of Golden Book Club

This summer, come together with Pastor Leslie and fellow church members for a heartwarming journey through Allen Levi's novel, Theo of Golden. Set in the charming town of Golden, Georgia, this story explores the transformative power of kindness and generosity. We’ll meet every Thursday starting July 9 in the Gathering Room, with sessions at 9:00am and 6:30pm. Need a midweek reset? Join us every Tuesday night in July for yoga in the fellowship hall. Whether you are brand new or already love yoga, this will be a relaxed space to stretch, breathe, unwind, and reconnect with yourself, with others, and with God. Bring a friend, wear comfortable clothes, and come ready for a peaceful evening together.

Join us for Dinner Church on Saturdays at 5:00pm. Gather around the table for a relaxed evening of food, music, message, conversation, and connection. Come as you are, bring a friend, and be part of something new.

  • Where are we located?

    We are located at 600 West University Ave in Sparta, Illinois.  Check out the map below.

  • What time is worship?

    We worship together on Saturday evenings at 5pm and on Sundays at 10:30am. Come as you are and all are welcome!

  • Where do I park?

    We have a large parking lot with ample spaces. Enter from Hood Ave or University Ave. 

  • What should I wear?

    No dress code here. Some people dress up for church others wear what is comfortable. Feel free to come as you are.

  • What about my kids?

    We have kids' worship at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings. We would love for you to join us. We have small groups for pre-k, 1st—5th, and junior and senior high.
